Morpeth, England
Solo singer/guitarist--Americana, Folk & Alt Country songs in the tradition of Guthrie, Seeger and Dylan, featuring stunning vocals & guitar artistry.
I met Tom O’Donnell only recently, on 2 October 2018 to be exact. He was in the south of England and had been invited along to my local folk club by a friend. I was a little late, and slid as unobtrusively as I could into the nearest vacant seat. Sitting opposite me was Tom, and two contributions later it was his turn to sing. With 30 seconds, I was enchanted by the most beautiful voice I have heard in a long time, a voice that moves effortlessly through the registers and has the power to keep you transfixed. Tom is supported by excellent musicians with a range of instruments, stringed, keyboard and percussion. The instruments accompanying each song have been carefully selected to provide a sensitive atmosphere that enhances Tom’s interpretations. And the musical talent runs in the family, as Tom’s son Dave sings the lead in the final song (Hey Julie by Fountains of Wayne). Tom is one of the most talented and original artists I’ve ever seen, and he puts on a great show, with stories and humour as well as great songs.
