Act Introduction
My name is Jim Moore and I operate as Scotland's Party DJ. I'm a sole operator and don't sub work out to other DJs so if you book me, you know it's me you'll be dealing with all the way through to your wedding and me who will be there on the day. Not to keep blowing my own trumpet but I recently won the Highly Commended award for Best DJ at the 2018 Scottish Wedding Awards so you can rest assured you’re in good hands. To break my experience down a bit - I've DJ'd and performed in bands for well over a decade now across Scotland including many of the country's premier wedding venues (an extensive list can be provided on request), prestigious live venues such as King Tut's and the Barrowlands and indie festivals such as Wickerman and Insider. In addition to this I've also performed across Central Europe and in various parts of the Middle East in 4 and 5 star hotels. I am now a wedding specialist DJ (over 97% of my work is weddings) so you know that you're dealing with someone with the experience and knowledge to make your wedding entertainment run like clockwork. I pride myself on operating as a with the utmost professionalism and nothing is too much hassle for my clients - my ultimate aim is to give you the exact entertainment that you want and deserve for your big day. My wedding packages are all inclusive and consist of: NEW: Autism friendly service: I'm proud to support the National Autistic Society and as someone with a teaching degree and specialism in children and teenagers with Autism and Aspergers I now offer an inclusive service if required to make sure all guests can enjoy the music. This is a tailor made process depending on you and your guests needs but can include: various social stories using official Boardmaker symbols to prepare the guest, use of ear defenders if required, Autism friendly lighting programmes and me being able to communicate using Makaton during the event if required. Please do not hesitate to let me know your requirements if any of your guests, young or old, would benefit from this. As well as: •You at the heart of it all: In order to maintain the level of service and attention my clients deserve, I limit the amount of bookings I take on. This means not only can I give you my full attention throughout the planning process and you’ll get the best possible performance from me on the day as I won’t be overburdened or fatigued from other bookings. •Live online requests: Providing I can get a clear wi-fi signal in the venue my main playout MacBook has a feature set up where guests can access an app from their phone or tablet and ping a request straight to me from their table, the bar or even outside when they’re having a smoke. Of course they can do the old fashioned thing and come and ask me too but it’s a nice option for those that may have to pass through a number of tables or the less mobile of your guests. •Online planning: I now offer an online planning system where you can select songs for your playlist, update the timeline of events for the night itself, organise our meeting and much more all available 24/7. •Video montage: My photo montages have been so popular that I now offer short video montages which take in your best photos, dance floor clips and if wanted - some "talking head" video booth type personal messages from your guests during the buffet or start of the evening. You can view a range of these on the media section of my site: http://www.scotlandspartydj.com/media and archived events. •Picture perfect: I'm not a pro photographer by any means but I have a decent camera, lenses and flash and I take some photos of your guests as they do their thing on the dancefloor. I put the best shots onto a CD and post it through for you to share with your guests. It's a nice souvenir and captures the parts of the night after the photographer has gone home. This is of course entirely at your discretion and if you don't wish e to do so it's not a problem. I've attached some examples of my photos so you can see the quality of them. •Unparalleled sound: I've just taken delivery of an incredibly small but powerful German made P.A system designed by one of the world's foremost speaker manufacturers. As well as being able to adequately provide sound from 20 to well over 200 guests, the small size of the P.A. means my set up now takes up even less room, you don't have big speakers looking out of place in a nicely decorated room and it makes multiple system set ups much easier meaning that if you choose a full or half day package, this can be done at a considerably reduced price than before. •Free no obligation pre-consultation: Booking a wedding DJ is something you've probably never done and there's a massive range in quality and service out there. I offer an informal no obligation meet, Skype or Facetime which given your location can be at the venue or somewhere in the Central Belt or via phone / Skype so you can get a feel for whether we'd be a good fit and to provide total peace of mind that I’m you the right DJ for your wedding. •The personal touch: A face to face meeting at a place of your choosing to discuss every detail of your entertainment and make sure you get exactly what you want. •Your event, your way: A pre-event planning form to ensure that I know exactly what you've planned for the evening and you get all of the songs, dances, announcements and anything else that you might want. •A massive choice of music: 1,000s of top quality legally acquired MP3s from the 50s to the latest chart hits. If you fancy something a bit different or go for a half or full day background music package then I also have an extensive choice of classical, folk, ambient and traditional music to choose from. •Your music, my pleasure: You can add requests (or songs you don't want to hear) played at any time in the run up to it via e-mail, text, phone or at the meeting and you and your guests are encouraged to make requests on the night. •Musical memories: Your reception often flies past in a blur so after your big day I e-mail you a chronological list of all of the songs played throughout the night. This lets couples remember funny, touching or special moments of the night and gives details of any hidden gems that were played you might have forgotten about or want to track down. •Exceptional sound quality: As well as a brand new PA that produces amazing sound quality and is always kept at a "danceable" but reasonable volume so your guests can hold a conversation I run all of my music from a set of two MacBook Pros which are the industry leading DJ laptops for sound and reliability. •Just in case...: I carry back ups of all the main components of my rig (laptop, speakers, play out system, lights, cabling, power etc...) so in the unlikely event that anything goes wrong, the party won't have to stop. Also (touch wood) I've never missed a gig in all the years I've been doing this but if I was unable to do yours for whatever reason, I am part of a network of reliable, professional DJs who would be able to fill in for me if need be. •My unique "glowing" DJ booth: This can be set to match your colour scheme or interact with the music and changed between programmes throughout the night. It offers a contemporary look to your room and it’s fairly often I receive comments from guests about how good it looks compared to what they expect a DJ set up to look like. •Modern, adaptable lighting: State of the art LED lighting for the dance floor, wall and ceiling which adds to the party atmosphere. This is modular and can cover ground all the way from understated classy low level lighting through to the nightclub experience. This is all controlled by the latest software on a dedicated laptop giving me an incredible level of control allowing me to match my lights to your colour scheme and the look you wish to create. •Announcements and speeches: As an experienced event host I can make any announcements that you or the venue may require and I also offer use of mics for any speeches you may wish to make. •Games galore (optional): It's not everyone's cup of tea but it's becoming a trend for couples to integrate some light hearted games into their reception and I'm able to facilitate that. I can organise a host a range of games from the Mr&Mrs shoe game to dance offs to limbo competitions to silly party games. The only limit is your imagination. •Ceilidh set with calling (optional): If requested in advance I can provide a short ceilidh set for you and your guests. No previous experience is necessary as I call and demonstrate each dance for your guests beforehand. •Peace of mind for you: A professionally drafted contract which is signed online using my Your Planner system so there's no messing about posting contracts back and forth plus it's done in the browser so it's fast, reliable, safe and you don't need to download anything. •Safety for you and your guests: I carry £10 million of Public Liability Insurance. •Even more safety for you and your guests: All of my equipment is PAT tested to ensure its electrical safety. A lot of wedding venues will demand to see this and an insurance certificate so even if you decide to go with another DJ, make sure they've got legitimate PAT forms and insurance cover as it's not uncommon to get panicked brides calling on the night of their wedding because a venue hasn't let the DJ set up due to not having the relevant documentation. Sorry - that's a lot of info to take in but aside from the venue and dress, the music is the one thing brides tend to agree made or broke their wedding and is the one thing all of your guests will experience so I always aim to give as much info as possible before you decide who to book. I appreciate that on paper my fees will seem a lot more expensive than many of the quotes you'll get but there are few in the industry that can match my years of experience or level of the level of service I'm able to provide. A previous wedding client recently left this feedback: “Hi Jim, I’m sorry I haven’t left feedback sooner - we were right back to work after the wedding so didn’t have the time but from the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU. The whole day was amazing from start to finish (thanks for all of the little things you put in place for our guests arriving and during the ceremony, we both really appreciated it) and thanks for calming my dad down before his speech - he was asking if you could send the feedback link to him as he’d love to leave you a review himself. The video is fab, I’m tearing up again just watching it back, From both of us, thank you so much for everything you did to make our big day so special.” Confirming the booking is subject to payment of the deposit and signing of the contract. Unfortunately due to previous issues I cannot hold a date for any client until they have confirmed the booking though if someone else enquires for your date I will endeavour to let you know. In this situation, as a sole trader I have to allow the first to pay the deposit and sign the contract to secure the booking. I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. Q: How long does setup take? A: Roughly 30 minutes to get setup, sound-checked, lights programmed and changed into my performing gear. It can be slightly quicker or slow depending on access and whether I have any other extras to setup like mood lighting.
Q: What are your space and power requirements? A: Ideally two 13amp sockets within 10m of my setup area but I can get by with one socket and longer extension runs in a pinch.

here are no words to describe how grateful me and Elliot are for your service Jim. The meeting beforehand to go over the rough plan for the big day really put our minds at ease and reassured us you were on the same page as us. But on the day you honestly outdid all our expectations - the belter of a suit you wore let everyone know we were in for a good night right from the offset.
